4th Staffordshire History Fair

4th STAFFORDSHIRE HISTORY FAIR

The Staffordshire Heritage Group would like to announce that the 4th Staffordshire History Fair will take place on Saturday, 18 September 2010, at the County Buildings in Stafford.

We anticipate that next year’s event will be bigger and busier than ever, building on the success of our three previous fairs.  The increasing profile of the event has enabled us to access new funding for advertising, speakers, re-enactment groups and other attractions to make this a really entertaining and lively day for historians and families alike.  This year’s event will be closely linked to the re-enactment of the Battle of Hopton Heath, .  The theme of the fair will be “Staffordshire in the 17th Century”.
Information about the West Midlands Branch of the Military Historical Societies efforts to raise a monument and interpretation panel to the English Civil War battle of Hopton Heath that was fought on the afternoon of Sunday 19 March 1642/3, and to try to establish an annual re-enactment / living history type event on the nearby Stafford County showground.
